Our mission for 2020

Dear Brothers and Friends,

I hope that you and your families are doing well in these difficult times.

As with most other events this year, the Masonic Toys for Tots Foundation’s three annual events have been cancelled. These events are: - the party for children that are patients at New York Presbyterian Weil Cornell Medical’s Children’s Cancer & Blood Foundation
- the party open to all children that takes place at Masonic Hall
- the annual Gala Ball that funds the two children’s parties mentioned above, our other work, and the annual monetary donation to the Children’s Cancer & Blood Foundation

I had hoped that we would be able to proceed with these events albeit with the added precautions that would keep all attendees safe. Unfortunately, that was not to be. The sad reality is that these large gatherings – particularly those attended by ailing and vulnerable children – are not possible given the current conditions.

As an alternative, and so as not to disappoint the children, we are collecting toys to bring to the hospitalized children. Our collection bins are located in the lobby of Masonic Hall. We need to show them that despite our physical absence, we have not forgotten them!

We must also increase our fundraising efforts and keep our tradition of donating to the CC&BF and increase our outreach to other children’s charities. This year, more than ever before, these funds are critical.

As Masons, our history is built on the foundations of charity and assistance where it is most needed. We must continue in the footsteps of our forefathers and keep our vow to take care of children as we have in the past.

In this effort, I ask you all to help The Masonic Toys For Tots Foundation (a registered 501c3 charitable foundation) keep our promise. Please donate here so that we can reach our goal. No donation is too small. In fact, if a thousand brothers donate $20, I will do my part and get enough additional donations to at minimum match that amount. If we all come together in this effort, we can continue this tradition of giving that has been ongoing for so many years.

As always, I thank you for your support, your time and your generosity.

I wish you all a very happy holiday season and good health in 2021.

Sincerely,
George Filippidis
President, Masonic Toys For Tots Foundation
